MISSION UPDATE 1.12.08 Greg and Marianne Wilke 011-521-668-397-5703 PO Box 204 Camas Valley OR 97416 "Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! John 4:35 NKJV
Dear Friends, Its been a great winter so far. Not much is white here, like the snow we miss, but there has arisen some new believers here. We also see more maturity with those are that are serving with us, both Hispanic and American. A few Sundays back we held a Baptism at the welding shop and home of the Perez Family in Toltecas. Only one family there member was baptized, and there is still hope for the whole family to commit their lives to Jesus. 3 weeks ago another young Father / husband prayed to commit his life to Christ. The wife and children in this home, one block from our house, are being blessed more and more each day for this change of direction. A real release is still needed. Please keep both of these families in your prayers. When we were out harvesting in our sorgum fields the heads were fair sized, but very few. One would think that it might not be worth the time to enter the field if the grain is so scattered. Working as a team just a couple hours a day, and were able to harvest 12 gunny sack full of grain. This is will be plenty to plant again next year, plus enough to feed a few chickens. It took diligence, not only to bring it in, but to winnow it, and we are very thankful for all the help we had from some local boys and the visiting families. This is how it is the harvest of souls also. We work together as a team, and each one has a part. At times a disciple is called to " how the row alone" and that is what Jesus went through at times also. See Hebrew 13:13 and John 16:32. Discipleship is needed, in a great way. Please be praying for laborers in this. MORE PRAYER REQUESTS: - Pastor Armando in Campito has been given a deadline to pay his house off by the end of Febuary, of the owners are threatning to take it back. He had paid about 5,000 of the $10,000 price. Another $2,500 just came in by selling his car. It was a nice station wagon that he just got last year, and I was so glad for him, that he had earned and saved for such a nice car. The ministry there is flourishing, but there is great need for discipleship and training of leaders. We’re in prayer for them often. Contact us if you want to help. - That I can write short segments and stories more frequently. The blog was designed to help this. Did you see the new photos put into Dougs Mission Report? http://mexicofamilymissions.com/blog/ - Our house project list is really long, and not much is getting done on it, yet. Here are some specifics in order of present priority: Change our water system over to pressure. ( We have 1/3 of the components purchased, and there are 3 phases to the installation.) The girls need a closet, The kitchen walls, need tiled, we want to remodel the shower in the bathroom, and also paint inside. - That we can get organized and back into a good school routine again. We had a great summer, but we have been very busy since we got back home here in Mexico. Marianne has really enjoyed the visitors. Now she wants to concentrate on the school. Also, I need to get some serious paper work done also. - Our acreage here is up for sale. Some potential buyers have fallen back, but yesterday a new one came up. We were hoping to buy a city lot near the local high school with some of the money. Now I am considering selling a horse trailer that we have, to be able to buy a location that would be a great outreach to the Junior High and High schooler’s. This is a prayer request, not a plea for donations. Some really good counsel came last week. We can title the property in Clementina’s name, and that was a big question that got answered! I feel like this lot that we have been offered for (3 yrs!!!) is like the pearl of great price, and I have not put much effort toward it. THANKSGIVINGS - In December 3 families and a few more young adults came and formed a large ministry team. 35 kids and 8 young adults gladly heard the word at the VBS in December. A few adults were also able to grow more in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus. The deaf school where Petra works was also greatly edified by many practical helps and repairs. We trust that this will bring you joy if you get time to read Doug Scofield’s report: http://mexicofamilymissions.com/blog/
- The visiting teams that have come and gone, have been really blessed to minister and learn along side of us. Your prayers and support have afforded them this opportunity. We want to give God the glory for allowing us to host visitors and be examples to those who stay with us long term. Josh and Lacy Webb have returned and are leading worship, sharing our common faith, and they hope to reach the village of Victoria where they are living. - We are still learning more Spanish. What a blessing to be able to be here, among the people and get immersed in it, almost every day! This year over 30 visitors will be enjoying this opportunity to experience a foreign culture, learn more of the language, and behold the genuine faith of your brothers and sisters much poorer than we. - The toilet flushes! Its been almost a year since we started helping Brother Uriel and his family with a bathroom, and they are finally showering in privacy. This family of 5 lives in 2 rooms. Josh Web is coordinating the next project, which is a roof over to 2 more rooms. If your interested in helping with the floor and windows let us know. These projects work best on a 50/50 basis with the owners contributing what ever part of the finances and work that they are able. - Alfonzo has been able to buy all the materials for his kitchen - dining remodel. He is back in Tijuana working again. His wife and 5 children really miss him. We prayed with him over Christmas break, for a break through, with work and business here. - My Mom is coming to visit! This will be our second relative to visit us here in Mexico. I cannot describe the joy this brings. There is also a new couple that we became friends with in Tucson that will be coming, and we are very thankful for their friendship and much needed counsel. - God brought us a surprise! Kari Johnson, from Grants Pass Oregon is a serious Christian and has enrolled as an apprentice in "Real Life Academy" here with us. When God is in on something that we have not had planned, our spirits witness to his workings to set things up in advance, and in the moment we have peace, and faith. - Petra has found another helper for the Deaf School ! Naomi Barnes from Bandon OR, God willing, will join the team for the remainder of the year. This school is not only for deaf kids. They use ACE Christian curriculum that costs $15 per student per month. When finances allow they would like to expand bigger facilities. If your led to sponsor either of these needs, support can be sent to: Communication and Humanitarian Services, Inc. • P.O. Box 6219 Visalia, CA 93290 Their prayer request is not funds, but for dedicated house parents, and a strong local body that can grow and serve along side of them. You can read a little more about the 32 students on the http://www.deafschool.org/ web site or see a group photo at the end of Doug’s report in the blog that is on our web site. - Titus and Ruth Wilke are expecting our first granddaughter in May. He is completing his courses in Korean and hopes to be able to enter into En-Kay on a trip in March. There has been some real big humanitarian aid sent this year into this closed country. Also Titus was able to assemble some technology that put God's word into the hands of disciples there. In Seoul he has had a lot of opportunities to be witnessing to refugees from the North as well as other foreign students. Write hansell(at)airpost(dot)net if you want to receive their news. - Judah is completing his studies and workshops at the discipleship school in Sheridan OR. They all take a missions trip at the end of the year. He will be going to Cambodia with a team to teach English and build up a church there. At the end of a 3 week course they will invite each student to a beach retreat and share the gospel with them. The students have earned and raised all their own support but some of the funds are still lacking for the beach retreat. If you are interested in supporting this, write us a.s.a.p. Most importantly keep praying for the effectiveness of these various ministries. May you rejoice in the months to come as we report back what answers our God allows to our petitions. - We are very grateful for the mature and longsuffering rulership over us. Unreached Villages inc. is a non - profit organization that we are affiliated with. It was designed to support native pastors and missionaries in India, but also supports missionaries to 6 other countries, including Titus and Petra. They forward 100% of all tax dedudtable donations to the designated field. Camas Valley Christian Fellowhip and Eglesia Cristiana Pagiel in Mexicalli Mexico are also a spiritual and legal coverings for us in Mexico.
